The Fleet and Industrial Supply Center Puget Sound has a requirement for ONE (1) each Hurco VMX 42 Vertical Machining Center with 4th axis. The proposed contract action is for supplies for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302. FISCPS intends to purchase the item on a sole source basis from Hurco, the manufacturer, through their Washington State distributor, Rosco Precision Machinery. Rosco Precision Machinery is the only distributor identified by Hurco to sell this equipment in this geographic location. The Hurco VMX 42 with 4th axis is equipped with dual screen WinMax (tm) software. Market research has determined that Hurco's VMX 42 is the only vertical machining center that will fit within the space configuration for the existing footprint location without electrical or structural changes. This is a direct replacement for an existing first generation Hurco model VMX 42. Shop personnel have ! been trained on and are familiar with the software programs involved. Spare parts, and existing Hurco VMX 42 specific tooling will be usable with upgraded model. This requirement is solicited using commercial, simplified acquisition procedures in accordance with FAR Parts 12 and 13.5. Interested sources may submit their capabilities and qualifications to meet the requirement in writing to the identified contract specialist not later than 2:00 p.m. local time on 3/30/2009. All information should be submitted to the Contract Specialist, Dianne Palmatier, Code 250, fax: 360-476-8701, or email: Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. All ! responsible sources may submit a proposal which shall be considered by the agency.
