The Scope of this effort is to sustain and operate the Air Force Enterprise Network, which is commonly referred to as Air Force Network (AFNET). This includes managing network boundaries and associated devices at 129 locations; sustaining AF and DOD standard hardware and security configurations across the AFNET; supporting 850,000 users across more than 100 main operating bases (MOB) and dozens of smaller geographically separated units with core enterprise services and mission applications, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, at 99.999% reliability; and provision of Enterprise-wide help desk support and trouble ticket reporting, escalation, and resolution for to the same. It requires integration of operations and security support across all of the AFNET functions (INSOC, ESD, data centers, etc) named above in order to improve event characterization and response across the AFNET, identify anomalous activity, and more quickly and effectively support 24 AF command and control (C2) of Air Force Cyberspace capabilities.
