This is a notice of intent to award a sole source modification under current Contract HHSN271200900007C/NIDA Ref. No: N01DA-9-1140 with Scholastic, Inc., of New York, NY, to continue the services offered under the contract for a period not to exceed 12 months. The primary objective of the current contract is the development, manufacturing, distribution and marketing of educational print and online materials to over 10 million middle and high school students to read as part of their in-classroom educational experience.  The proposed modification is to provide the Contractor the opportunity to complete the 3rd Insert of their educational magazines highlighting NIDA's latest research on drug abuse and addiction for distribution to middle and high school teachers and students during the 2014-2015 Academic Year. Further, the Contractor will manufacture, distribute and market educational print and online materials developed under the contract for the upcoming academic year to complete the current cycle. A new contract award is anticipated for Fiscal Year 2015.

This notice is being published by NIH/NIDA in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 5.201. The statutory authority for this sole source modification is FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, the Government shall consider all responses received within fifteen days of this posting. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. A determination not to compete this requirement, based upon responses to this notice, is solely at the discretion of the Government. Written responses to this synopsis shall contain sufficient documentation to establish a bona fide capability to fulfill this requirement. NIDA will not be responsible for any costs incurred by interested parties responding to this notice.
