Synopsis:

The Healthcare Acquisition Activity-JTF Camped, Bethesda, Md, intends to issue a firm-fixed-price, sole source contract to Objet for purchase of a 3D fabrication system that will allow for the mixing of materials with different physical properties - can fabricate an item that is both soft and hard, mixing of colors, provide on demand use of material - no reservoir of material, fabricate products are cured with light - not lasers, model prep can be done with a water jet - no alcohol or other solvent, no hand scraping required for model finishing, and will include complete Installation and Training. This purchase is for Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC), Bethesda, MD.

This procurement is being conducted in accordance with FAR Part 12.603 under streamlined solicitation for commercial items and FAR Part 6.302-1 only one responsible source is reasonably available because of the proprietary nature of the systems.

Objet Geometries Inc. is the developer and vendor for the Connex 500 3D printer. Its ability to fabricate pre-surgical physical models from DICOM CT and MR Scanner images as well as guides, templates, custom implants, rehabilitation devices, anatomical models with segmented anatomical features, tubes of different physical properties for flow models, various other projects for Graduate Medical Education (GME) and research applications meets the essential characteristics given by the customer. The Government believes Objet Geometries Inc. is currently the only contractor who can meet these technical requirements.

The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) for this requirement is 323111 and the size standard is 500 employees. All responsible sources may submit a response. A determination made by the Government to not compete this requirement will be based on responses to this notice and is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A solicitation will not be issued. Interested firms may identify their interest in writing to the Government point of contact.
