The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has awarded Contract HHSM-500-2013-00167C to Maximus Federal Services, Inc. for Eligibility Appeals Operations Support services. Award was made to Maximus Federal Services, Inc. through a full and open competition and will support the Federally-facilitated Marketplace and State-based Marketplaces for the Eligibility Appeals Operations Support tasks under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010. The tasks in the Eligibility Appeals Operations Support Statement of Work include the overall management of the eligibility appeals process, which will include operating an informal resolution process for appeals in accordance with the strict application of well-defined government procedures, the review of appeal requests and supporting documentation, coordinating data collection with appellants, general case management for the Exchanges, writing summaries and providing recommendations to federal employees, where applicable, and implementing training to ensure staff remain current on relevant laws, policies, and guidelines.


This contract was awarded as a Cost-Plus-Fixed-Fee type contract with a 12-month base period and four (4) 12-month option periods. The total potential contract value, including all option periods and optional tasks, is $383,164,686. The effective date of the contract is September 25, 2013.
