This is a Sources Sought Synopsis. The U.S. Air Force is conducting a search for the capability to disassemble BLU-97/B and BLU-97A/B sub-munitions in support of periodic surveillance evaluation on fielded systems.  It is estimated that minimal quantities (not more that 2200 each) of BLU-97 assets will be disassembled annually.  Although this evaluation is scheduled annually, there is no guarantee that annual disassembly will occur.  The capability to disassemble 2200 BLU-97s within 30 days is required.

The BLU-97 sub-munition, also known as the Combined Effects Bomblet (CEB), consists of a Body Assembly, Fuze Assembly, Air Decelerator Cup Assembly, and Zirconium Sponge.  The disassembly of the CEB presents a significant hazard and appropriate safety controls are the contractor’s responsibility.  There is no Government furnished equipment available for this effort.   The contractor is responsible to provide all personnel, services, facilities, and materials to accomplish disassembly and inspection of BLU-97/B sub-munitions, and dispose of all residual hardware, explosives, and material and perform all associated miscellaneous tasks.
