The MHS iAS is designed to manage the entire identity lifecycle for the 10 million MHS users that are eligible to access one or more MHS Web Applications. Once registered with MHS iAS, MHS users will be able to authenticate their identity using the MHS iAS. Once authenticated, the MHS iAS-provided Single Sign-On (SSO) capability will permit the user to move between all the MHS Web Applications, for which they are authorized users, without any additional identity authentication being required. The MHS iAS also provides for federated identity interfaces between selected MHS Web Applications and trusted external web portals such as Army Knowledge Online (AKO) and the Air Force Global Combat Support System (AF GCSS).
The MHS iAS is the single system controlling access to numerous MHS Web Applications supporting the daily activities of hundreds of thousands of MHS users. As such it is imperative that the Contractor provide a quality of support that will permit the MHS iAS to meet high levels of system operational availability (Ao) while providing quick response times under high user access workloads.
