The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) issues Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) Number 2013-N-14995 under the provisions of FAR 35.016 and FAR 6.102(d)(2) which provides for the competitive selection of research proposals. Contracts that are awarded based on responses to this BAA are as a result of full and open competition and therefore in full compliance with the provisions of PL 98-369, "The Competition in Contracting Act of 1984". The BAA can be found as an attachment to this synopsis.

CDC contracts with educational institutions, nonprofit organizations, not for profit organizations, state and local government, and private industry for research and development (R&D) in those areas covered in Part II of this BAA. The NAICS code for this BAA is 541712, Research and Development in the Physical, Engineering, and Life Sciences (except Biotechnology) with a size standard of 500 employees.


This BAA is open and in effect for 28 days from the date of release (February 25, 2013 through March 25, 2013). THIS IS AN IMMEDIATE CALL FOR WHITE PAPERS for the program entitled, "Research of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Risk Factors and Burden of Disease to Support the National ALS Registry Effort". Prior to submission of a white paper offerors are strongly encouraged to contact the CDC BAA Technical Coordinator Dr. Oleg Muravov, at (770) 488-3817. White papers must be received by March 25, 2013 in order to be considered for further evaluation. White papers should be submitted electronically to the following e-mail address: alsresearch@cdc.gov. Please put "ALS BAA White Paper" in the subject line of the email.
