Sandia Corporation is pleased to announce the development of Stingray, a Fluid Blade Disablement Tool (FBD) for, e.g., national security and law enforcement applications. An explosive charge is used to propel a portion of the Stingray casing and a liquid towards a barrier, causing a puncture in the barrier and allowing the liquid to proceed to the other side. The Stingray design allows it to be placed almost in contact with the target without losing its effectiveness; it can also impact a target from a distance. These characteristics hold the possibility that Stingray can be used for various useful applications, such as bomb disablement. Sandia desires a partner to commercialize this technology. Partners may obtain a pre-negotiated nonexclusive license for reasonable compensation. Partners may also obtain a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADAs) or Non Federal Entity (NFE) agreement, both of which are expected to include funds-in to Sandia. Sandia is a multiprogram laboratory operated by Sandia Corporation, a Lockheed Martin Company, for the United States Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration under Contract DE-AC04-94AL85000.
