DARPA previously released the META and META-II solicitations to develop model-based methods for the design, representation, and formal verification of complex military systems such as ground vehicles, airplanes, and rotorcraft in a "fab-less" environment. The present BAA looks to lay the groundwork for the development of a foundry-style manufacturing capability - taking as input a verified system design specified in an appropriate metalanguage - capable of rapid reconfiguration to accommodate a wide range of design variability and specifically targeted at the fabrication of military ground vehicles. For complete details of the BAA, see "iFAB BAA FINAL" attached to this announcement.
Added: Oct 21, 2010 3:10 pm
The DARPA-BAA-11-20 is amended to clarify that if an offeror chooses to submit a proposal covering more than one technical area, the offeror is encouraged to include the others as priced options so as to enable DARPA to easily fund a subset of the proposed technical scope. Separate proposals from the same offeror for the different thrust areas will also be accepted. The BAA is further amended to add that performers on other related efforts in the Adaptive Vehicle Make program portfolio will also be present along with all performers across the various technical areas for the bi-monthly principal investigator (PI) meetings. All changes are marked in red in the attachment - iFAB BAA FINAL-mod1 with markups. A clean copy of the updated BAA is also attached - see iFAB BAA FINAL-mod1.

Section IV.B.2 (top of p.16, first complete sentence) of the solicitation is revised to read as follows:

"Proposals for Technical Areas 1, 2, and 3 should cover the base period."

With the exception of the above revision, the BAA remains unchanged.
