XM1158 Proximity Fuze for 40mm Airburst Non-Lethal Munition (ANLM) The Fuze Development Center, Fuze Division, AETC, ARDEC, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ is currently seeking sources for the final engineering development of the XM 1158 40mm Proximity Fuze. This fuze will be integrated into the XM 1112 ANLM cartridge. The Government-designed fuze is intended for use in the M203 Grenade Launcher, as part of the ANLM, which delivers a non-lethal payload at a specified standoff distance from the target throughout the normal range of the weapon. The proximity fuze is self-initiated upon launch and transmits an Radio Frequency signal until it detects the reflected signal, upon which a fire command is issued at the appropriate standoff distance. The fuze includes a mechanical arming device from the M550 fuze. Upon completion of the design, the fuze and cartridge will be assembled as a single finished product, packaged for delivery to the field. The fuze development will be conducted as an integrated product team, utilizing both Government and Contractor facilities and resources, with a specific focus on designing for production.
